Construction work on the monastery gardens began back in 2002 and has been continuing in stages ever since. In addition to the monastery gardens themselves, the adjoining areas such as Stiftsplatz, Brauhausplatz and the courtyard of the monastery's boarding school are also being restored. The monastery gardens were laid out as part of the monastery expansion in the mid-18th century, incorporating the hillside zone and the Oder lowlands. The restoration and upkeep of the gardens, which are in keeping with their listed status, follows the guiding principle of restoring the gardens with their terraces, orangery plants, mirror basin and hornbeam-lined trellises to their Baroque splendor. The foundation's garden department will advise on all matters relating to maintenance. The Stiftsplatz with its historic paving will be restored as a central meeting place opposite the monastery church.
