A CLEAR GOAL...

The open space planning redesign aims to reorganise the traffic and ancillary areas and to redesign the areas along and under the pedestrian bridge. The focus is on the revitalisation and utilisation of the ancillary areas. Meeting, lingering and movement spaces are to be created. The currently unclear and neglected space is to be usable in the future without barriers or fear and will thus be significantly upgraded. A combination of transit area and place to stay will create a tangible and functional space that is attractive to a wide variety of user groups, such as commuters and residents, and has an inviting effect on visitors to the Neugraben district.

...LEADS TO A CLEAR DESIGN

The design concept envisages the creation of functional areas in the outer areas along the development, where pedestrians can move around and shops are given usable space. As an identity-forming element and pathway to the centre of Neugraben, a paving stone is used for the pathway areas that has already been laid or is to be laid at the Neugraben market square and in the Neugraben market passage.
In the central area, which in some places also accommodates the connection to the stairways of the pedestrian bridge, areas are to be created that offer a quality of stay and into which one can step out of the linear pathway to linger. Grouped furniture is planned, which is robustly designed against vandalism. The clear definition of the functional areas supports good orientation in the space.
