Böttgerpark Manufactory Meissen Redesign of the planting areas

The Böttgerpark opposite the famous porcelain factory in Meissen was no longer a pretty sight in 2021. The plantings were interspersed with couch grass, monotonous and without a recognizable concept.

Our office designed a planting on a special mineral substrate for the south-facing area, partly under tall old trees with reference to the alchemist and inventor Johann Friedrich Böttcher, co-founder of the porcelain manufactory. In keeping with the traditional colors of Meissen porcelain, the planting is predominantly white, with selective accents in blue-violet. Thanks to numerous geophytes, flowering begins as early as the end of January and ends in November with the fall and perennial bloomers. Some evergreen shrubs form the framework.
