The Park an der Walk is located to the south of Neuenstein's old town. Along the Epbach, between the Walkhaus and Schleifsee, it is part of a green axis. This runs east to the edge of the town and ends in the castle park to the west. The planned area covers around 8,500 square meters.

The site was partially rebuilt for flood protection purposes. A dam was built for this purpose. If the stream overflows its banks, the water will be prevented from flowing towards the city gate and the Walkhaus in future. The top of the dam is up to one hundred and thirty centimetres above the original ground level.

The paving of the paths showed considerable subsidence in places. The equipment, especially benches and play elements, were outdated and not attractively designed. The paths were renewed and the equipment replaced.

The park was extended to include the area to the south-east of the existing rose garden.

The small-scale square has been removed. Instead, a near-natural adventure area has been added. Balancing elements made of wood and stone, hanging ropes and climbing elements offer fun and games. The tree population is loosely supplemented. A section near the tree canopy is intended for small children. A large play tower is an eye-catcher, landmark and trademark in the park. A second, quieter meeting point is the fountain square in the west. Bordered by the main and side paths, it nestles up against the embankment, which was intercepted at this point by a set of blocks. Additional shrub planting frames the square and reinforces the sense of space.
