The Kirchberg with its striking town church is not only the topographical center of Mittweida, but is also characterized by special historical traces that document the developments over the centuries in a diverse and surprising way. The outdoor facilities around the church make this genesis tangible. New paths create improved access to the church.

On the green area to the north of the church, visitors are shown the hidden "inner life" of the Kirchberg in an understated but informative way. The entire Kirchberg is criss-crossed by historic granaries and rock cellars, the extent of which can barely be guessed on the surface. The exemplary visualization of a cellar tells part of this story. The base of the cellar is depicted by wildly laid grass paving. A small group of metal silhouettes placed on the green area under the trees is visible from afar. A silhouette of a house with a window view of the "Alte Pfarrhäuser" museum opposite forms the end of the cellar corridor and the end of the visual axis - as a reference to the lost warehouses.
