Marketplace Ahlen

The redesign of the market square in the center of the city of Ahlen was carried out against the background of a functional upgrade for the inner-city retail trade, the local gastronomy and inner-city living and was also considered under the aspect of demographic change. This meant, among other things, the mandatory realization of barrier-free access and use of the square. The beautiful square with the central island was retained. The interior of the square was strengthened by narrower edges to the north and south and a clearer definition of the boundary to the churchyard. The lingering zone with water feature now serves as an attraction and also contributes to the revitalization of the square during non-event times.
