Knappschaft Bochum forecourt

With the new bastion, the Bomin-Haus on Bochum's Königsallee will have a spacious square right at the entrance. Attractive and easy-to-use recreational areas will be created for visitors and employees alike.



The previous terraced complex from the 1960s has been transformed into a new, urban square. The striking bastion creates a spacious, tree-covered square in front of the entrance, which gives the high-rise building space and visually brings it closer to Königsallee. The wide staircase and the barrier-free path integrated into the topography along the bastion create a direct link between the city and the main entrance. The bastion square and the stairs are equally inviting for employees during their breaks and for visitors to the Knappschaft. The upper area of the square is also designed to retain heavy rainfall, while the green trough towards the cab rank creates a further rainwater buffer and improves evaporation.
