In the immediate vicinity of the Ruhr University Bochum, the friendly new buildings by ACMS Architekten, Wuppertal, were built on a former mining site as part of the Variowohnen development program
.
With its L-shaped buildings, the ensemble forms a bar to the busy Universitätstraße and the internal access road behind a wooded area with parking spaces for cars, bicycles and garbage. The buildings are accessed via green inner courtyards, which are connected to each other by a path and terrace strip. The residential complex is barrier-free. The inner courtyards offer a high quality of stay in the warmer months and are used for studying and chilling out. The rain retention areas can be used in dry weather. Intensive planting and extensive meadow areas create an attractive and insect-friendly setting.
