New construction of a research and competence center for construction chemicals Trostberg

The research and competence center for construction chemicals enters into a direct dialogue with the old town through its urban design. It sits at the top of the company premises and spares the old park with the former director's house. The roof water flows over the glass outer skin into a trough trench lined with natural stone blocks. The trench is modeled on a mountain stream bed. Spontaneous growth must be removed from time to time.



The innovative, dynamic and globally oriented image of the company is reflected in the spatial planning of the building and the design of the open spaces. The terraces under the glass shell on the laboratory buildings were planted with selected plant communities from all over the world.

Jury verdict: The special conceptual feature of the interior design lies in the division into climate zones and continents. The visitor is immersed in completely different environments and plant worlds. Through a successful use of plants, whose design language emphasizes the different vegetation zones, an important contribution is made to climate control in the building. The project is a special example of how landscape architects are involved in the construction from the very beginning and thus have a formative influence on the overall result of the building, interior greening and outdoor facilities.
