Geestland School Kropp Redesign of the school grounds

Planning open spaces as a joint task

Since 2007 until today our office accompanies the project for the schoolyard design.

The concept is that the entire project should be realized over a longer period of time, in a modular principle with four sub-areas, so that the students, parents and teachers participate in the development, identify with the designed living spaces and develop responsibility and a sense of community.

To this end, the project is implemented directly into everyday school life, for example through the elective course "Schoolyard". All students of the 7th - 10th grade also actively participated in the implementation of the project. They cleaned lawn stones, distributed pebbles, cleaned and painted a room for gardening tools, planted the inner courtyard with the support of the countrywomen as part of an action day, and cleared the two glass courtyards. A positive social effect: the pupils are proud of the results and learn to value them.
