The basic principles of the open space planning are integration into the "Green Ring from the Main to the Main" and thus into the RhineMain Regional Park as a link between existing and future green spaces. The aim is to create a strong connection to the water, to create open space for social interaction and to achieve an interlocking between water and land. The materials used are also intended to create a reminder of the harbour's past, i.e. of its rough, robust and honest character.
The key features of the peninsula are near-natural riverbank areas with individual views through to the Main, landscape windows or viewports as a link between the mainland and the waterfront. In the transition to the peninsula, a large square is being created, which, through direct access to the water, additionally increases the relationship to the river and offers opportunities for social interaction, as well as for a stay through a generous flight of steps at the end of the harbor. A sustainable rainwater concept is made possible by cleaning biotopes and soil filters, especially in the landscape windows.
