School extension building of the primary school Zepernick Design of the forecourt, the entrance areas and parking spaces, as well as the infiltration systems

The elementary school Zepernick was extended by a two-storey new building. In the course of this construction project, a variety of open spaces were created that connected the new and old buildings and integrated the ensemble into the landscape along the Panke River.

The main access to the extension is located in the transition area to the old building schoolyard and is accessed from Möserstraße. The schoolyard extension has been constructed with concrete block paving, incorporating strips of natural stone for structure and drainage.

A ramp leads from the forecourt to the bicycle storage facility to the east. New tree plantings have been incorporated into this facility, which can accommodate all of the school community's bicycles by means of space-saving bike racks.

East of the bicycle parking facility and in the transition area to the landscaped schoolyard, there is an intensively planted infiltration system for the roof water of the building and the paved areas of the schoolyard.

The access to the site is south of the school extension building. Car and disabled parking spaces for the teaching staff were created here. The parking spaces were created with lawn slabs. The surface water is collected and cleaned in a lawn trough, the overflow of which flows into the above-mentioned infiltration system.

The access to the rear side entrance leads over a barrier-free ramp as well as two staircases. These form an elevated terrace in front of the building, which connects to a planted embankment, which extends around the building as a planted front garden with ground covers and perennials.
