Jury verdict: The restored river delta has a high quality of use and will be able to develop into a valuable habitat in this new form. It should be emphasised that the renaturation of this natural area is based on such a convincing concept that the polluters are co-financing the measure. This is in keeping with the polluter pays principle.
The "rebirth of the river delta" on Lake Lucerne can be considered a European showcase project. It is in its kind the "only" realized deconstruction project of a river delta in the alpine part of Europe.
The project also honors a persistent and successful landscape planning. With the foreseeable fillings by 2007, the ambitious planning of 1983 will already have been implemented. The project is distinguished by the fact that it was and is being initiated by a landscape architect and developed in an interdisciplinary manner. The interdisciplinary approach of landscape planning could be realized in an exemplary way.
