AppreciationGerman Landscape Architecture Award 2009

Jury verdict: As part of the redesign of the palace park, the area of the park was expanded to three times the size of the original layout, an initially gloomy, densely planted garden on the edge of the palace. The design captivates through its restrained design and spatial expanse. The qualities of the work only become apparent at second glance. High-quality design details in a contemporary formal language go hand in hand with the elaboration of historical traces, such as the historically documented but newly constructed moat, without reconstructing it in form and materials.

The work convinced the jury with its interpretation in the interplay between contemporary landscape architecture and historical reminiscence. Without reconstructing anything, the authors nevertheless succeed in elaborating their design responsibility. In this sense, the project is exemplary for a contemporary further development of traditional design elements.
