Outdoor facilities for the Riedberg school centre, consisting of a grammar school for 1350 pupils, a youth centre and a three-field sports hall with outdoor areas.

In the young Riedberg district (development period 1997 to 2017 for an area of around 260 ha), the city of Frankfurt am Main is building a grammar school for 1350 pupils with a focus on science and language. New standards are being set with this first new building of this type of school since 1913. For example, the entire building has been designed as a passive house and optimized in terms of energy.
Part of the facility are a three-field gymnasium with expanded exercise areas and a youth center. The generous open spaces rise topographically above the landscaped Kätcheslach Park to the north and Landhäusser-Allee to the east, while to the south a louvered façade serves as a filter between the courtyards and Friedrich-Dessauer-Strasse. On the west side of the high school, the neighborhood plaza strengthens the transition between the school, gymnasium and youth center and creates a connection to the neighborhood.
The break yard interlocks with the comb-like building structure and thus offers open spaces for different age groups and needs. The two courtyards in the southern part of the building are reserved for the school garden, an outdoor reading area, and the dining hall garden.
Dominant elements of the open space design are wooden tubular steel furniture, which are tailored to different uses in simple, robust modules. The plant selection was expanded, as far as the city's requirements for care and robustness allowed, under the natural science aspect of Global Phenological Monitoring. Brick clinker is used in the more intensively designed areas, in keeping with the facades.
