The reinterpretation of the decorative square at "Ventspils" is a start to the renewal of the Sundpromenade in Stralsund. With the promenade created in 1928, the Hanseatic city has a public promenade on the Strelasund close to the city. One of the aims of urban development planning is the contemporary restoration and further development of the site, which is a listed garden.

In the avenue, the Sundpromenade widens into a square at the "Ventspils" restaurant. Instead of a reconstruction, a modern square design was carried out, whereby old proportions were retained. The central element of the open space is an elongated, rectangular perennial bed with crossways of different widths made of reading stones and flints of various sizes. The decorative bed is planted with perennials and bulbs in a sophisticated manner and offers seasonally changing aspects. Structural themes and the colour spectrum blue, violet and white refer to the changing moods of the water surface of the Strelasund. Trimmed yew hedges structure the bed and contrast with the perennials. In winter, the structure of the bed can be experienced through the evergreen hedges and path coverings.
