Context:
In December 1994, the city of Halle acquired 134 hectares of a former garrison of the CIS armed forces.
Shortly thereafter, the formal designation of a development area
of approx. 214 hectares for the development of the new urban district Halle Heide-Süd.
Guide idea:
A network of linear green structures, which accommodate bicycle and pedestrian paths and function as ecological
corridors, connects the "Green Triangle" with the higher-level green system.
Right-lined peripheral paths enclosing the park support the triangular basic form.
With the overdrawing of the original topography, using the accruing
excavated material from the development, diverse spatial situations with
powerful dynamics were created. Entrances and especially views up to the towers of the market place,
buildings that disappear behind terrain modelling, and not least paths make
this above and below tangible and the new landscape legible.
Another approach was to exploit the field of tension between expanse and functional as well as design
concentration points. Thus, today, extensive meadows,
light tree groves and extensive grass plantings determine the image and set the stage for purposefully
concentrated squares, terraces and functional islands, which can assert themselves in the expanse of space through
their strong, robust materiality.
