The succession of urban plazas and green spaces on the former Steinmüller site performs development and recreational functions for the quarter to be restructured. At the same time, new public spaces for the entire city were created with the university park, the city garden and the surroundings of Hall 32.

The restructuring and address formation of the former industrial wasteland takes place via the public space. The design concept developed was implemented in several construction phases.
The redesign of the area at the North Gate and the design link to the pedestrian zone were the first measures on the way to reintegrating the Steinmüller site into the urban fabric.
The urban square is the link between the city centre and the adjacent neighbourhoods as well as the new representative entrance for the development site. Design elements such as the "crossing field", bands in the pavement and light lines guide into the central area.
The "heart" of the new quarter is formed by the square area around the listed "Hall 32" with the adjoining structurally enclosed green area, the so-called "Stadtgarten". The forecourt in the north is characterised by a group of steel sculptures, the southern area by a stepped water feature and the passepartout-like lowered lawn area bordered by paths and seating walls. An ensemble of high identification and recreational value.
The "University Park", a tree-covered square with a wooden deck and corten-framed grass beds, forms the link between the city garden and the university campus.
