The federal motorway 59 runs through the middle of Duisburg's city centre and is covered by a tunnel structure in the area of Duisburg's main railway station. Above the tunnel ceiling, this creates a large square in front of the main entrance to the station, which is now to be transformed into an attractive representation and functional space at the entrance to the city centre.
