As a spatial conclusion of the existing "water axis" as an important district and pedestrian axis in the residential area of Jena-Winzerla, the new city entrance has been created between the department store and the Damaschkeweg stop as Winzerla's "calling card".

At the beginning of the planning, a citizens' workshop was held to record and implement the wishes of the residents. This was followed by the reorganisation of the pedestrian and cycle path relationships and the crossing of Rudolstädter Straße. Another goal was to make the area accessible to the disabled. The originally overgrown area was cleared. Now it presents itself open and manageable from everywhere, which meets the desired need for safety.
16 newly planted trees, selected according to the changed climate conditions, emphasize the main diagonal as the backbone of the facility, enclose the newly created boules court and complement the tree population on the east side of Rudolstädter Straße. Shrub beds structure the area and form the visual prelude to the water axis that continues to the west. The area from the department store to the bus stop is terraced with seating steps, which are well accepted by the population. Round concrete elements serve as eye-catchers and further seating and play facilities.
