Our office was founded in 2002 under the name herrburg Landschaftsarchitekten GbR in Berlin. With the change of the legal form to a registered partnership with limited professional liability we continue the office as SCHÖNHERR Landschaftsarchitekten PartmbB. As a team we work together with our 12 employees*innen projects from the range of the object planning (in accordance with §38 HOAI).
Objektplanung
Due to our professional activity of many years the office has the necessary technical authority and experience in all achievement phases of the object planning. In intensive dialogue with our clients, we implement our projects from the initial design idea to construction management professionally and with commitment.
We understand planning as a continuous process, in which we develop concepts and ideas from the overlapping of the demands of the users with the conditions of the location. This includes the recording, filtering and evaluation of the existing and the intensive examination of the task. The design is based on coherent functional concepts. From the conceptual idea to the work in variants to the design, we try to achieve the optimal result by constantly questioning found solutions. Sometimes 'the impossible' must be attempted in order for the possible to emerge.'
Creative solutions that respond to the task in a fresh and intelligent way should support the project's distinctiveness and identity. Our design language serves the legibility of the space and stages it clearly in its qualities. Bringing function, form and idea together in new images is a crucial concern for us. Sustainable building is a prerequisite for us.
Our claim is to consistently and creatively work through and implement the developed ideas into the execution and detailed planning. A targeted choice of materials, sophisticated design details and the effective use of plants are important to us. We see the requirements of the clients as well as financial and building law conditions as a challenge to the professional processing of a project. The high structural quality and value as well as the reliable execution of our projects are essential for us.
Thematic focal points of our work in the object planning are:
- Living environment design for private and public clients
Through the support of building groups and building owner communities, we have extensive experience in cooperative and participatory planning.
- Design of outdoor facilities of social institutions
We have specialized in particular in the following topics: senior-friendly open space design and open spaces for people with disabilities.
- Planning for and with children: the redesign of children's playgrounds, schoolyards and kindergartens
- Design of urban open spaces and plaza spaces
We use participation or workshop procedures to carry out cooperative and participatory planning processes.
Conceptual work
In addition to project planning and realization of concrete construction tasks as well as teaching at scientific institutions, we consider conceptual work on all urban-open space planning scale levels as an important part of our activity. In our work, we try to develop new ideas and images of our own by dealing with current trends in landscape architecture, architecture and urban planning.
As a "field of experimentation", competitions allow us to deal with different locations, work tasks and scale levels. We work on concrete tasks in studies and expert opinions, such as on the topic of urban redevelopment suitable for senior citizens.
Extensive research, comparative analysis and the transfer of results to the planning levels are fundamental.
We develop concepts and plans in the process with the relevant actors and institutions. Development models and variants are discussed on the basis of the social, ecological, economic and resulting design consequences. For this purpose, we use the classical media of scientific word and image representation, but also computer-aided visualizations for comparative design variants in the context of, for example, urban-open space planning development and feasibility studies.
Equipment
Craft work with pencil and model as part of the work process is just as important and natural to us as the further implementation using CAD and computer-aided visualization. Equipped with CAD, AVA and office systems, further graphic software is used depending on the project requirements in order to be able to visually prepare and communicate projects in their individual sections accordingly. The maintenance of the modern infrastructure with internal network, printers, plotters and external interfaces are the basis of our work.
