Our office was founded in 2002 in Berlin under the name herrburg Landschaftsarchitekten GbR. With the change of legal form to a registered partnership with limited professional liability, we continue to run the office as SCHÖNHERR Landschaftsarchitekten PartmbB. As a team, we work together with our 12 employees on projects in the field of object planning (according to §38 HOAI).

Project planning

Due to our many years of professional activity, the office has the necessary professional competence and experience in all service phases of object planning. In intensive dialog with our clients, we implement our projects professionally and with commitment, from the initial design idea to construction management.

We see planning as a continuous process in which we develop concepts and ideas by overlaying the requirements of the users with the conditions of the location. This includes recording, filtering and evaluating the existing situation and intensively examining the task at hand. The design is based on coherent functional concepts. From the conceptual idea to working in variants to the design, we try to achieve the optimum result by constantly questioning the solutions found. Sometimes "the impossible" has to be attempted in order to create the possible.'

Creative solutions that respond to the task in a fresh and intelligent way should support the uniqueness and identity of the project. Our design language serves the legibility of the space and clearly stages its qualities. Bringing function, form and idea together in new images is a decisive concern for us. Sustainable construction is a prerequisite for us.

Our aim is to consistently and creatively work through and implement the developed ideas right through to the execution and detailed planning. A targeted choice of materials, sophisticated design details and the effective use of plants are important to us. We see the client's requirements as well as the financial and legal framework conditions as a challenge to the professional handling of a project. The high structural quality and value retention as well as the reliable execution of our projects are essential for us.

The focal points of our work in property planning are:

- Residential environment design for private and public clients

We have extensive experience in cooperative and participatory planning through our support of building groups and building owner associations.

- Design of outdoor facilities for social institutions

We have specialized in the following topics in particular: senior-friendly open space design and open spaces for people with disabilities.

- Planning for and with children: the redesign of children's playgrounds, schoolyards and kindergartens

- Designing urban open spaces and squares

We carry out cooperative and participative planning processes by means of participation or workshop procedures
.

Conceptual work

In addition to planning and implementing specific construction projects and teaching at academic institutions, we consider conceptual work at all levels of urban and open space planning to be an important part of our work. In our work, we try to develop new ideas and images of our own by engaging with current trends in landscape architecture, architecture and urban planning.

As a "field of experimentation", competitions allow us to explore different locations, work tasks and scales. We work on specific tasks in studies and reports, such as on the topic of urban redevelopment for senior citizens.

Extensive research, comparative analysis and the transfer of results to the planning levels are fundamental to this.

We develop concepts and plans in a process with the relevant stakeholders and institutions. Development models and variants are discussed on the basis of the social, ecological, economic and resulting design consequences. For this purpose, we use the classic media of scientific word and image presentation, but also computer-aided visualizations for comparative design variants in the context of e.g. urban and open space planning development and feasibility studies.

Equipment

The manual work with pencil and model as part of the work process is just as important and natural to us as the further implementation using CAD and computer-aided visualization. Equipped with CAD, AVA and office systems, further graphic software is used depending on the project requirements in order to be able to visually prepare and communicate projects in their individual sections. Our work is based on maintaining a modern infrastructure with an internal network, printers, plotters and external interfaces.
