City Park Krefeld-Fischeln

Krefeld as a city of gardens realizes with the city park Krefeld-Fischeln an important green connection of the city to the landscape. The city park is the product of a citizen-oriented examination of the theme of city / countryside, which took place in the context of the Euroga 2002. The design idea is based on an interpretation of the landscape, in the form of a search for traces and the use of existing minimal elements. By defining the edges, a new spatial structure is created. Thereby the whole existing landscape is put into value, by virtue of a concise vegetation architecture on only one third of the area.

The tree line is the creative backbone of the park. It forms an artificial structure of differentiated tree structures from a large circle of trees. Individual rows of beautiful small-crowned flowering trees dance along the curved path. The tree species have been chosen in such a way that the blossoming begins in the east and ends in the west. The blossom magic is followed by the changing shades of green of the leaves, which finally end in the spectacle of autumn colouring.

The structure of the tree fields create spaces, places, directions, light and shadow and authentic places are created in which aesthetics, sensuality and poetry help to determine everyday life and the living environment.
