The new urban space created by opening up the Pleiße-Mühlgraben at this location was given an orientation towards the water. Based on the competition entry "Mendelssohnufer", a design was further developed with linear structures framing a central triangular lawn. Planting areas along Beethovenstrasse and to the south of the access road to the underground parking garage are characteristic, with shrub areas arranged in irregular rectangular strips. Alluding to Mendelssohn and musical elements, lawn steps, similar to staves, lead down to the Pleiße-Mühlgraben. The last step is at the level of the water surface and thus provides direct access to the liquid element. The 'notes' on these rows are wood-clad seating cubes. Loosely distributed, they accentuate the green steps and invite you to sit down. At night, the riverbank takes on a special ambience when the light from the recessed floor spotlights below illuminates the surroundings through the wooden slats of the seating cubes. The newly tangible green bank now marks an independent urban quality and has become a popular place to spend time.

The realization of the project was preceded by the first placement in the "Mendelssohnufer" appraisal process (Leipzig, 2003) together with RKW Architekten.
