Lawn sculpture at the International Garden Show Hamburg 2013

Theme area: 'World of movement'
Garden No. 70: 'Body and soul in harmony'
Implementation of the theme in collaboration with the artist Birgitta Weimer as a landscape art project.
Work designation: 'In the resting pulse'

'Body and soul in harmony', that is, the pleasant relaxation that flows warmly through athletes when they return to the resting pulse after activity, is symbolized by a harmoniously swinging lawn sculpture.
White-barked Himalayan birch trees structure the sloping, trapezoidal terrain. To the south, they create shady, cool lounging areas. Towards the north, the group of trees dissolves and allows the enjoyment of sun and warmth.
Like the capillaries of a blood vessel system, the green wave valleys run through the area. In them Birgitta Weimer places her 'globules', red blood cells. The red painted globules are an abstraction of red blood cells magnified 200,000 times. They symbolize vitality and a positive attitude towards life, which grows sustainably from sporting activity. They form a colourful contrast to the other elements of the garden, which also makes do with the basic elements of landscape design to create its very own atmosphere: green topographical forms and the natural spatial effect created by the targeted use of woody structures. The Himalayan birch, which has a very natural look, fascinates with its particularly smooth, brilliant white branches and fresh foliage colours.
