In the context of the planned redesign of the green corridor "Entenbach" in Bingen-Büdesheim, the duck pond including its surroundings was redesigned by gutschker-dongus.

Previously, the Entenbach ran in a straight line with a deepened, trapezoidal streambed. The banks along the narrow stream channel were mostly paved and very steep. The banks of the duck pond were also unflattened and completely fenced, making access to the water impossible. The duck pond, like the creek, was constructed in a concrete shell and was very unnatural.

Planning focused on ecological enhancement and natural redesign to create biotopes and recreational spaces. The renaturation of the watercourse and to make this experiencable were in the foreground. The surrounding area was taken into account in the planning and also upgraded in order to increase the overall quality of stay. From a dreary green strip along the duck brook a small, but respectable city park, which invites to stay, was established.

The concrete shells were removed and the course of the brook got a slightly meandering line. The inflow and, height situation, in order to divert as large a quantity of water as possible into the adjoining newly constructed duck brook, was considered. The hydraulic ground situation to prevent damage to neighbouring buildings was maintained. The duck pond was not only completely renewed for visual reasons, but was also constructed to be more functional. A drainage shaft for cleaning purposes was installed and the self-cleaning capacity of the pond was increased. Retention areas for heavy rainfall events were created and a riparian vegetation suitable for the location was established. In order to make the element of water more tangible for the population, the access situation to the shallow water area was improved. For safety reasons, the deep area of the duck pond was separated with a fence. As this stream was the main source of water in the Middle Ages, the historical situation of "washing place and bleachery" was included in the design. The old tree population of the green corridor was preserved and additional deciduous trees were planted to provide privacy and shade. Various seating areas (boulders, benches and seating walls) round off the overall concept and increase the quality of stay.

The new city park was very well received by both the population and the ducks.
