Schoolyard 117th elementary school Reichenbachstraße Dresden Schoolyard street side and small playing field

The redesign of the entire street-side school grounds on Reichenbachstrasse on both sides of the main entrance was planned by our office.

One of the challenges here was working in the crown area of numerous old trees.

In addition to a classic small playing field for badminton, volleyball, small-sided soccer and basketball, which is also available for external use through a separate entrance, a shady recreation area, the so-called maple grove, was designed with wooden decks and balancing elements as well as a climbing combination.

In the transition to the playing field, a grandstand area was created, which serves both as seating for spectators of sporting activities and invites them to climb.

In order to create a lively, natural and attractive garden area for the children, the school garden and creative areas were spatially and functionally interwoven to create a "discovery garden".

It consists of a total of five spatially defined "islands" that communicate with each other via narrow connecting paths and small squares.
