The open spaces of the tax office in Mönchengladbach are divided into three sections: the parking lot for the employees, which is structured by hedges and trees, the forecourt with direct access to the mailbox and the inner courtyard, which can be seen from the offices and which houses the outdoor terrace of the canteen.



The courtyard is criss-crossed by reed grasses in steel-framed, shard-like beds. The color of the grasses changes with the seasons; even a light breeze causes the entire planting to move, so to speak.



Light, yellow-leaved gledichia (Christ's thorn) cover the "sea of grasses" and complement the soft color spectrum, which is coordinated with the facades.



In order to ensure the usability of the terrace, large-format slabs of artificial stone are laid in the cream-colored chippings in front of the canteen.
