The simple house is embedded in a formally designed garden that realizes the couple's wish for a lush green garden without a lawn.
A woven clinker path grid now surrounds fields of hedges and shrubs, creating surprising angles and opening up for seating in the green carpet, which projects the elevated position of the spacious wooden terrace into the garden.
In individual grid fields, trees with special autumn colors rise above the boxwood and perennials. The bamboo towers above the existing walls surrounding the garden on the street side and blocks views from the neighboring 7-storey office building.
The northern exposure is compensated for by a "light catcher", which reflects the sun into the garden and conveniently makes the unattractive rear of the garage disappear: In an anthracite-colored frame, a gold-plated wall presents itself as a direct counterpart to the terrace with adjoining living/dining room. The gold leaf wall becomes a "picture" in the living room, constantly providing new views in combination with the sunlight.
