Together with the conversion of the former Lessing School into a community centre for the Hohenstücken district, the forecourt adjacent to the market was also redesigned.
The design is based in part on the results of the 'Planungswerkstatt Zentraler Wohngebietspark Hohenstücken' and responds in its formal language to the dominant, cubic forms of the surrounding buildings, in particular the Erfurt-type school building.
In addition to its function as an entrance and access to the community centre, the forecourt is also to be used for community centre events. Some areas are intended for restaurant use. To ensure the multiple uses, the square is paved for the most part.
