The square at the Quadrium presents itself as a quality urban space and defines the new centre of the town of Wernau. The overall concept of the was honored with an award in the competition "Exemplary Building in the Esslingen District 2001-2006".

The main task was to create a square with a high quality of stay between the old town hall and the "Quadrium", which also takes up and visually bridges the busy Kirchheimerstrasse. Due to the diverse facades of the existing and new buildings, a surface as homogeneous as possible without directional joints was to be created. In addition, the (at least temporary) use by heavy goods vehicles required an extremely robust traffic surface.
Large-format titanium-grey concrete slabs with natural stone facing harmonise with the materials of the new building. Three bubbler axes screen the plaza from the main street like a light screen and make the area look continuous even when not in use. For the bubbler function, the panels are elevated in steel frame constructions and provided with a borehole. The water returns to the closed water circuit via stainless steel slot channels.
