Marienhospital Bottrop

The Marienhospital Bottrop, built in the 1930s, has relocated the previous main entrance in the south of the building complex to the west side of the building. In this context, a new entrance hall and a new cafeteria were completed in early 2013. The new entrance area and parking facility on the west side of the hospital have since opened. Visitors are greeted by intensively flowering perennial plantings in the raised beds. The walls of the raised beds provide seating among flowering perennials. In the evening sun, the west side is particularly attractive.
A striking pedestrian path between Josef-Albers-Strasse and the new entrance to the Marienhospital characterizes the design. The generosity of the path underlines the value of the new main entrance
The new access axis is emphasized by centrally placed raised beds. Along the axis there are sunny seating areas attached to the raised beds as well as shady areas under the avenue trees. Crossways connect the path to the surrounding areas and the parking lot.
The rainwater accumulating on the paved areas is channelled via box gutters, pavement gutters and lawn troughs into a retention area between the car park and Josef-Albers-Strasse and from there reaches the nearby Vorthbach via culverts.
