Under the construction management of Rau Landschaftsarchitekten, the landscape architects Rotzler Krebs und Partner from Winterthur (CH) realized their competition design for the city garden in 2003 on behalf of the city of Dornbirn.
Architect Dietrich Untertrifaller from Bregenz (A) planned the nature museum. In the old factory building of the former steel-processing Rüschwerke, a natural history museum was created with an "experience exhibition", a "documentation centre" and attractive open-air facilities.

The charming industrial architecture of the former foundry, lathe shop and assembly hall is embedded in several individually designed garden areas:

the clearly designed arboretum with 50 trees staggered by continent,
the enchanted Sleeping Beauty Garden,
the inviting play lawn with an articulation of rows of birch trees and sunken seating,
the canal square with its underground power station canal,
the museum garden with its water basin and pergola,
the play area with its water feature, divided by grass strips and willow hedges
as well as the central Rüsch courtyard as a multi-use "town square".
