The chemical
biotechnological process center was built on the site of the Leuna Chemical Park for research purposes. Its outdoor facilities have to meet above all functional
requirements for access and technology, but also the aesthetic demands
of employees and visitors. On the long
stretched, rectangular, north-south oriented property is the
same oriented building in the middle. While the delivery zone to the east with asphalt and
concrete paving is suitable for heavy goods traffic, the visitor zone to the west
leads employees and visitors via short routes to the main entrance of the building.
Safe bicycle parking spaces with roofing are an additional incentive to increase
the use of bicycles as a means of transport for the daily commute. In addition to these
areas, which are primarily characterized by a high level of functionality, a
terrace on the north side of the
seminar room and a terrace in front of the kitchenette on the west side, embedded in perennials and grasses, create a quality of stay that offers employees
and guests a relaxed atmosphere during breaks. In the design
of the open spaces, the straightforward and clear design language of the building
was used. Even in the parking areas, the linearity is continued in the concrete joint slabs
with chippings filling. The planting areas are divided into perennial and woody areas. Here, the plants from the research are used in particular
to bring them closer to visitors using the existing example.
