Due to enormous traffic disturbances caused by parking and deliveries, the Jahnplatz cannot be perceived as an experienceable square. By reducing traffic, the square is to become a qualitative public space that meets the needs and requirements of its users. Existing road layouts and parking will be optimised and a speed 20 zone will be designated as a traffic-calmed area. The focus is on a high-quality open space design taking into account important path relationships. Thus, differentiated open space zones with different intensities of use are created: an urban zone with water feature/café/shop use, an experienceable zone with usable green spaces/seating steps and a functional zone with planting/bicycle and car parking spaces. A ramp, which ensures the desired accessibility, and a generously designed stepped area connect the individual zones with each other and complete the open space structure.
