14.01.2018 was the day of departure for Team Skate-Aid. The construction of the skate park in Namibia, Windhoek was imminent. Together with a team of locals, the volunteers had spent the last few weeks building the skate park for the SOS Children's Village. The area was provided by the mayor of the city and is open to the public for all kids who want to skate.

Over the past few days, the Skate-Aid team spent time teaching the children how to skate so that they would have a few tricks under their belts by the time the park opened.

After six weeks of hard work, the opening ceremony finally took place on 23.02.2018

On February 23rd, Namibia's first inclusive skatepark opened in Windhoek. This unique project was created at the National Institute for Special Education (NISE) through a collaboration between The Global Experience Münster, Global Experience Namibia, the Münster UNESCO schools Schillergymnasium and Primussschule and skate-aid. The park was inaugurated by Laura McLeod-Katjirua, the governor of the region, and skate-aid founder Titus Dittmann. Over the next few months, the kids will be supervised by experienced skate-aid activist Gabriel Santos, who has also worked for skate-aid in Kenya and Rwanda. From August, two "Weltwärts" volunteer positions will be set up in cooperation with "Eine Welt Netz NRW".
