Redesign of a dilapidated playground in a gap in the Gründerzeit district of Dresden-Neustadt. The project was carried out in cooperation with a local residents' initiative.
A robust facility with a variety of play activities was created on a limited area, which also functions as a meeting place for young and adult residents.
Under the theme of "waterways", the only still functioning element of the former facility, a groundwater pump on a hill, was incorporated. Waves of blue and turquoise tile mosaic were created for the stele surround and concrete floor, a rocking boat, the "miracle flowers," feather baskets in the sand, a bamboo grove, and most importantly, a water feature made of mosaic pavers with weirs and a water spiral.
Elements:
- Concrete surface with stylized water surfaces made of quarry mosaic
- Wave-shaped enclosure made of concrete steles with inlaid tile mosaic
- Rock island
- Rocking boat
- Sand islands with bobbing "wonder flowers"
- Fortified play hill with slide and water play facility
- Bamboo thicket
- Bleachers.
