The school building was planned and erected in 1928-1930 by Gustav Oelsner under Mayor Max Brauer - deliberately as an educational building on the representative axis of Altona.
The facades are structured in strict formal grids and have been preserved and emphasized with the renovation. The outside facilities take this up in modern form language. As was customary at the time of its construction, open space was provided in a variety of ways, for example as a walkway or seating area.
The materials used translate the design approach into the present day.
