In the Milbertshofen district of Munich, BMW AG has reacquired a property from Knorr Bremse that has become the premier address for lovers of historic automobiles and motorcycles: BMW Classic.

The building ensemble includes the eastern section of the first BMW plant built in 1918 and thus part of the former production halls for aircraft engines returns to the company's ownership.

The current use is no longer the industrial production of vehicles or vehicle parts, but still workshop and station for BWM classics still on wheels. The ensemble is also available for cultural events, a café is open to visitors and passers-by.

The open spaces around the renovated factory hall, the gate buildings and the modern new workshop building in between have been redesigned throughout. Due to the history of the site and the multifunctional use, the demand for a simple, functional and unaffected design, paired with carefully developed functional details, with considered combinations of forms and materials as well as with light art, arises. Chestnut trees once again frame the former factory building today.

Core project features:
- Species-rich rough grasslands of the northern Munich plain, loosely overlaid with Scots pines and other tree species
- The south-facing front gardens, intensively used by factory employees at the time, were partly preserved and reinterpreted by additions, so that today one can once again enjoy lush ornamental shrubs, Ramps, stairs and large-format slabs at the entrance areas and the café terrace
Parking area with lawn joints, driving areas with steel strip edgings
- Enclosure for technical equipment with facades made of expanded metal
- The garden is now a very attractive place to visit.
