				For the entire Nikolaiquartier BID, a uniform material composition is planned for roads, sidewalks, edgings and stairs. In addition to the new, light gray asphalt pavement for the roadway, the sidewalks will be paved with beige concrete slabs. This will integrate the Nikolaiquartier into the overall image of Hamburg's inner city. In order to make the roadway appear narrower and less dominant, the watercourses common in Hamburg will also be executed in the same material as the sidewalks.
This uniform design is continued in the furnishing with street lights, benches and trash cans. In order to underline the importance of the Großer Burstah for the neighbourhood, large lights are hung here as markers in the street.
