All roof and courtyard areas - a total of around 12,500 m² - at the schools were disconnected from the combined sewer system. The rainwater is channelled via open gutters and new base pipes into retention troughs and further on into a seep. Unsealing measures reduce oversized schoolyard areas. In addition to functionality, the overall concept also takes into account the improvement of the quality of stay - based on the participation of both schools. Rain fence, water funnel and water labyrinth stage the rainwater at unexpected places. Cascade-like water outlets serve as welcome seating in the school grounds during dry periods.
