Liberation Square

The Platz der Befreiung is located east of the railway embankment at the Adlershof S-Bahn station and on the busy Adlergestell arterial road (B 96a) in the Adlershof district of the Berlin borough of Treptow-Köpenick.

Platz der Befreiung is an important public transport hub and transfer point with S-Bahn, tram and bus connections, which provide access to the Alt-Adlershof district and the expanding science city of Adlershof.

The "main artery" of the district is Dörpfeldstraße with its market square and the old community school, which is now used as a civic and cultural center. A few steps further, in the street named after her in 1984, the writer and honorary citizen of Berlin Anna Seghers lived from 1955 until her death in 1983. The heart of the neighbourhood is the Platz der Befreiung. Through its traffic function, it serves both the
Science City and the neighborhood as an entrée.
