In the course of the redevelopment of the Gehrensee and on the basis of a care and development plan drawn up by the office in 1998, a near-natural recreational landscape was created which integrates the lake as a protected part of the landscape.
The park, which is close to nature, was equipped with attractive facilities for playing, camping and walking for the residents. Extensive meadows are partly used as horse and cattle pasture.
A dam, which surrounded the hermetically sealed off area in parts during GDR times, was integrated as a striking element and ends with a generous viewing platform. The connecting ditch between Gehrensee and the restored Erdpfuhl was widened and now serves as a rainwater retention area.
