From the urban positioning and the form of the building's ground plan, three essential open spaces are given, which were designed according to their functions in the overall context: - The schoolyard as a play and movement area during breaks, - The garden courtyard with the outdoor terrace to the refectory and school garden as well as the green classroom, - The service courtyard with the parking spaces and the kitchen service. The open spaces, which are strongly characterised by building facades, are given an additional distinctive design by planting trees and shrubs, surface textures and colours as well as by furnishings. Despite a considerable slope of the overall site, the barrier-free accessibility of the building and the playability of the schoolyard is guaranteed. A 50 m running track, a long jump pit and an all-weather ball field are arranged on the schoolyard. The playground can also be used for traffic education as a bicycle training area. Contrasting anthracite-coloured bands have been inserted into the largely uniform light-coloured surface of the courtyard to facilitate access to the main entrance, especially for visually impaired people, and striped inlays in black and white have been integrated to invite people to play and jump.
