Fairyland daycare center Wittenberge 2nd place in the competition

The competition entry proposes a modular system that forms individual "playhouses" by adding walls. Each playhouse is given an individual and identity-forming hipped roof, creating a moving roofscape that is reflected in the interior spaces.



The organization of the open spaces is significantly influenced by the existing topography and wooded structure and takes up the theme of the wooded dune landscape. The flat and lower lying areas are connected to form an open play valley, which contrasts with the shady wooded areas due to its sunny character. The valley is bordered by a paved circular path, which is designed as a seating step at the edge of certain play areas, and connected to the building entrances and terraces. Thanks to the sandy subsoil, all the rainwater from the roof surfaces and paths can be directed into the low points of the topography and seep away there. The infiltration areas thus become densely vegetated green valleys that can be climbed over by children.
