The circular ditch complex of Pömmelte in Zackmünde in Saxony-Anhalt is a ritual site dated to the end of the 3rd millennium BC. After a comprehensive archaeological investigation, the site with its multi-layered ring wall was reconstructed. With the design of the surrounding extensive landscape, the reconstruction was anchored in the landscape
Weite and the tourist development in the midst of the cleared agricultural landscape with a few restrained but legible independent elements memorable secured.

A fruit grove marks the access with information boards and seating. A ribbon of green glass gravel leads through the meagre grassland into the depths. White fields mark the location of the explored longhouses. The broken glass creates an intrinsic glitter and refers to the special relationship of the former cult site to sunlight. Concrete brochs remind in their form of the markings during the archaeological exploration and inform with the embedded text about the artefacts found at the site. The viewing platform rises at the end of the path. The palisade circle of natural robinia trunks is juxtaposed with an 8x8x8 cube of stacked oak planks. Once at the top, the landscape location can be understood and the dimensions of the historical site can be imagined.
