In 2004, the Free State of Bavaria held a competition for the realization of the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film (University of Television and Film) and an urban planning ideas competition for the Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst (State Museum of Egyptian Art) on the south-east site of the Technische Universität München (TUM). In October 2004, the jury selected the architectural firm of Böhm, Cologne and Lill Sparla Landschaftsarchitekten as the first prize winners.

In accordance with the development goals of the City of Munich for the Max-Vorstadt, generous lawns and groups of trees were planned to create a park-like overall ensemble. The rows of trees of the Alte Pinakothek continue vis à vis vis visually on the property of the HFF SMÄK. The approx. 50 cm high plinth wall was also adapted as a property enclosure.

The main access to the university on Gabelsbergerstraße was generously constructed with "Olympia-Mastix", subordinate pedestrian areas were partly made of cast stone slabs with a lawn joint.

In the area of the park and the tree grove on Barer Straße, benches made of cast stone were placed to increase the quality of stay. A large bicycle parking area is located east of the university building on Barer Street.

The internal access, delivery and disposal road, which connects Arcis and Barer Streets to the south of the building, was made in "Stone Mastic Asphalt". For visual and ecological enhancement, the flat roofs of the southern parts of the building were planted with extensive green roofs.
