Birdsong

Located in the middle of the national park, the approximately 100-hectare site around the former Nazi Ordensburg "Vogelsang" was used as a military training area by the British and later by the Belgian armed forces after the Second World War. Both the Ordensburg itself and the surrounding buildings (cinema, swimming pool, camaraderie houses...) were neglected, as were the listed open space elements (Thingstätte, sports facility, war memorial...).



In the run-up to the construction of the new information and documentation center, the important open space structures around the Ordensburg were renovated. The historical structures of the extensive open spaces were carefully restored in close consultation with the conservation authorities and nature conservation associations.
