In the future, the city's two town halls will form the prominent cornerstones of the space characterized by the historic house facades, which is intended to enhance the center as a market square.
Spatially, the square is defined in the north both by the Gothic town hall and by looking through the facades of Rosen- and Luitpoldgasse.
The Spitaltor marks the southern access to the city center via a narrow alley, the Friedrich-Ebert-Straße.
First at the corner of the New Town Hall, the market square, which is strongly inclined in a north-south direction, widens out.
The alley on the Wied is given the function of a square exit for motorised traffic.

Between the two town halls and to the Spitalturm, interesting visual axes open up, which are to be kept free of parking.
The facades of Rosenstrasse and Luitpoldstrasse are also perceptible as northern spatial edges of the square.

Place functions

-The western business front zone enjoys morning sun, and is therefore particularly suitable for morning weekly market use.
It has overriding importance as a historic thoroughfare linking to Rose Lane. In the future, pedestrian traffic and bicycle traffic in the north-south direction will play a central role here.
The east side of the square is sunny in the afternoon and is suitable for stay such as outdoor gastronomy and seating. The eastern thoroughfare to Luitpold Street can serve as a temporary market delivery/fire department exit in the future. The current location of the parking spaces on the east side of the square will be retained.
The southern and eastern apron of the Gothic Town Hall is suitable as a midday and afternoon sunny seating and lounge area around the fountain.
The northern apron of the new town hall with flagpoles is to be seen as a representative apron of the administration and traffic space for through traffic.
