Corparate identity is far less common in landscape architecture than in the neighbouring disciplines of architecture, design or art, although enormous design potential exists. This water basin was developed from a company logo.

The round office tower is surrounded by a formerly flooded water basin made of reinforced concrete. Due to the heavy algae formation and the resulting high maintenance effort, it was the owner's wish to develop an alternative and low-maintenance solution for this area. However, the design should not only fulfil functional criteria, but also create a reference to his commercial activity and the regional environment. This task was solved by conceptually overlaying several levels of meaning:
First of all, a recognition value was created by transforming the company logo into a red water basin on a black background. Since the owner deals with Japanese electronic devices, principles of Feng Shui teachings were also incorporated into the design. Flowing water represents wealth tower and business success. The redesign of the water basin was also based on a Japanese dry landscape garden. Stone settings and loose fill convey a minimalist design approach. Plants were used only sparingly. The reference to the place was created by the materiality of the stone used. The immediate vicinity of the company is characterised by coal mining spoil heaps in anthracite tones.
